    Sobre a obraAbout the work

    Ela apenas desloca a pergunta.

So far, much of Futuro Ancestral seems to look outward.

    At territories.

    At encounters.

At what lies beyond the horizon.

In this work, the direction of exploration reverses.

A woman appears suspended, holding a Sword Lily — a plant deeply present in Brazilian spiritual imagination and associated, across different cultural and religious practices, with ideas of protection and shelter.

But the image avoids representing spirituality through explicit iconography.

The levitation need not be read as a supernatural phenomenon.

    It functions as displacement.

    A change of state.

The body remains present, but momentarily stops obeying what may be the most elementary physical rule of our experience: gravity.

Suspension becomes, then, a possible image for another form of consciousness.

This is where the work touches one of the central questions of the entire collection:

what would a future civilization understand technology to be?

Modernity has associated progress mainly with our capacity to transform the outside environment.

We built tools to move matter, transmit information, cross oceans and leave the planet.

But different cultures developed, over centuries, knowledge aimed in another direction: the transformation of perception, of consciousness, of communal relations and of subjective experience.

The work does not try to equate these fields or offer a definitive answer.

    It only shifts the question.

Perhaps there are frontiers that cannot be reached by rockets.

Perhaps the next great territory of human exploration lies within us.
